Kingly Bits, Wacky Bits, Paxil Bits and More!
Keeper: Acid House Kings – Do What You Wanna Do – Their website calls them “Sweden’s no 1 guitar pop band.” I was never a fan of ABBA but I do like me some Swedish pop every now and then. This track is a snappy little number – it makes me want to skip around the office and snap my fingers in an annoying fashion. Acid House Kings are including a Karaoke DVD with their new album so we can sing along with them right away! Aw, aren’t they thoughtful?
Keeper: Michael Learns to Rock – Strange Foreign Beauty – This Danish band is big in Asia. I hate to compare one artist with another (yeah, right), but the lead singer here reminds me of Gary Wright (remember “Dream Weaver”?). Anyway, MLR has a slick website where you can watch videos of the band performing live. I suspect MLR and Hilary Duff share the same fanbase but I like this song anyway.
Keeper: Kings Of Convenience – Homesick – No relation to the Acid House Kings, these Kings are from Norway and they lay down some royal harmonies. Reviewers often compare them to Simon and Garfunkel, and I think hearing “Homesick” will make you agree. They seem like nice boys and I think they'd like you to visit their website.
Chin Stroker: Bjork – It’s Oh So Quiet – Oh, that crazy, wacky Bjork. This song has been around for a while now. I just about drove off the highway the first time I heard it on the radio. When I found it today on someone’s blog I had to savor it once again. Luckily, today I’m sitting in front of my computer and not driving.
Painful: Reparata and the Delrons – Shoes – Why is this song called “Shoes”? Is this song about a dysfunctional family at a Greek wedding? Will this website tell you more than you need to know about Reparata and the Delrons? Will you be able to listen to the entire song without grinding your teeth into dust?
Backlog: Dave Carter & Tracy Grammer – Ordinary Town – Dave Carter wrote this song, which features Dave on guitar and vocals, and Tracy Grammer on lead vocal and fiddle. Dave died in July 2002 but Tracy continues to tour, showcasing Dave’s great compositions along with her own music. Check out their website, which also leads you to Tracy's website.
Backlog: Provan – I Won The Context – Provan is a band from the East Coast. I liked this song the first time I heard it. Great drums, lots of thick guitars, tasteful background vocals. Even though they've been around for a couple of years it appears they've just started their website.
Backlog: Kaci – I Will Learn To Love Again - Could Kaci be more optimistic, self-confident or resilient? Kaci is only 17 years old but she will not give up and she believes! Could Kaci learn to love being my new best friend? Could she come over to my house, help me throw my Paxil down the toilet, then go shopping with me for cute little outfits? Kaci’s official cybershrine - I mean, website - might be run by 9 year old girls but it's all good. And now you must swear you won’t tell anyone I actually like this kind of music.
Next post will probably be on Wednesday.

I now know more about Raparta and the Delrons than I ever wanted to know and I'm not sure how I feel about it. I'll get back with you though.
